Quote

There is a wonderful mythical law of nature
that the three things we crave most in life
-- happiness, freedom, and peace of mind --
are always attained by giving them to someone else.

-General Peyton C. March (1864-1955)

Nice quote! and so true. Reminds me of a song we sang in elementary school "Love is something if you give it away you wind up having more."

Very good thought. I guess that's the best reason to share the gospel.

You may not get happiness, or peace of mind...but you will surely receive freedom!

Thanks very much!

- Steve Martin

....but aren't we generally too busy or hung up on our own preoccupations to live it out?

It reminds me of the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi -- "Lord, let me be a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love ..." Etc.

Lovely, Roland, thank you.

That's a great quote. Happiness, freedom, peace of mind - even saying the words feels nice!

If I literally give my customers at work freedom I'll be sacked quicksmart though...

Freedom in particular is bought by bloodshed and vigilance. It is maintained first by the word, then by the bayonet, bullet and bomb.
