Punishment?

They stay away from the light,
for fear their sins will be exposed
and they will be punished.
John 3:20 NLT

Do you avoid the things in your life that stink?
Are you afraid that people will find out that you:
lose your temper?
lust?
hate?

If you stop and look at your life honestly,
you will see some things that are not good.
Jesus tells us to go to the light.
He doesn't say He will punish us.
Don't be afraid to look at your sins.
They should not have power over you.
Jesus said people stay away from Him from fear.
We shouldn't fear Jesus.
He is there to help, comfort and guide us.
He was sent as a light into this world.

Don't be afraid of the light.
Enjoy the ability to see.
You may not always look nice,
but at least you will know it.
Imagine going out into public
and having your hair a mess.
Wouldn't it be nice to know about it?
Know that everyone messes up.
Also know that it is not the end of the world when it happens.

Jesus didn't come here to condemn us.
We have ourselves and others for that.
He came here for another reason.

Isn't it good to know that someone cares about you enough
to give up everything, even if only for a little while,
just to came and help you when you need it?

Good thoughts, Roland.

Amen! We all struggle with sin in our lives but part of the Good News is that we never fail when we trust in God's power to overcome it.

I think you risk pissing off the masochists - the ones in love with the idea of an angry, punishing God. Or maybe you're at risk of pissing off the sadists, who are in love with the same image but beleive they alone will escape punishment.
But add my "amen" to Pablo's.
